Sgt. John Seaman of the El Centro Police Department shot a man with
his department-issued Taser gun Tuesday night after the man allegedly
yelled, "Shoot me! C'mon shoot me!"The man, Randy Smith, 36, of El Centro, was driving a pickup with expired
tags when Seaman pulled up behind him and turned on his cruiser's siren,
according to Sgt. Jerry Novak of the ECPD.Smith allegedly refused to pull over and led Seaman on a 30 mph low-speed
pursuit to Smith's house on Smoketree Drive. After Seaman rolled his cruiser behind Smith's truck, which Smith had
parked in his driveway, Smith allegedly walked toward Seaman and asked
to be shot.Seaman told Smith to lie on the ground, which, eventually he did. Instead
of remaining on the ground, Smith allegedly rose and came at Seaman. When he got within six feet, Seaman tased him.
Smith dropped. After paramedics checked Smith out, he was taken to county
jail and booked for driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license,
obstruction and failure to yield. Bail was set at $1,427.
